Hi, Star!
For this installment of our newsletter, we bring you loads of tools and resources to help you go global with opportunities this New Year.
By the way, if you still use Google search, consider applying these hacks for better search results:
Use quotes to force an exact match search
For example—» "What is ChatGPT”
Use “ -” Operator with space to exclude results that contain a term or phrase
For example—» bass -music will return pages about bass that do not contain the word "music."
Use OR Operator to get the results related to one of the search terms
For example—» (Python OR NodJs) free course
Applying “AND” Operator with another term will return only results related to both term
For example—» Finance AND Accounting will give you results on finance and accounting
Find a specific filetype with “:”
For example—» filetype: pdf learn data science
You can search inside a single website
For example —» Site: readyforwork.africa
Include two periods “..” when you want to search within two number ranges
For example—» Jobs growth 2010..2022
If you’d like to use stop words in your search, add the "+" sign or enclose your phrase containing stop words in quotation marks. Make sure that you include a space before the "+" sign. For example—» to search for Annual Report Version I: annual report version +I

What’s the ChatGPT craze about?
GPT-3 (Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3) is a language model developed by OpenAI.
The framework has garnered numerous attention in the AI and technology community due to its considerably advanced language models, ability to generate somewhat human-like text, answer questions, translate languages, summarize texts, and perform other language tasks with some accuracy levels.
Many see GPT-3 as a major step forward in the development of AI and believe that it has the potential to bring about significant advancements in the field.
GPT-3 is not the only generative AI model in the market, though.
Google recently announced the launch Bard, and equally invested $300 million to acquire a 10% stake in Anthropic’s AI model Claude.
However, there are also concerns about the ethical implications of language models like GPT-3, including the potential for it to be used for malicious purposes, such as spreading misinformation or impersonating individuals online.
Many are also concerned that it might lead to massive job loss.
While it's possible that the widespread use of GPT-3 and other advanced language models could lead to job losses in certain industries, particularly in areas where the technology can automate tasks that were previously done by humans.
It's also crucial to note that the development of new technologies has often led to the creation of new job opportunities as well. For example, the rise of the internet created many new jobs in areas such as website development and online marketing.
Ultimately, the impact of GPT-3 on employment will depend on its adoption, how well it performs compared to human workers, and how quickly new job opportunities are created in response to the changes it brings about.
While some job loss is inevitable as the technology improves, it is important for governments, companies, and individuals to consider the ethical and social implications of these changes. And work to ensure that the benefits of the technology are distributed fairly and equitably.
In summary, I present to you two vital takeaways as follows:
Remember this image.
Remember the movie Hidden Figures
Octavia and her crew were so good at their jobs and achieved remarkable results. But as with many things, change came knocking. Realizing they might be replaced by IBM technology, they had to upgrade their skills to evolve and remain sustainable.
We’re officially in the age of AI.
If you’re concerned, or even scared about GPT and the likes, you should be. The changes we see in the industry today are drastic and definitive.
But you can either be paralyzed by fear or you can upskill with ReadyforWork to futureproof your career. It’s that simple.
