Quantum Leap Career Fair 2025: Proof of Skills, AI & the Future of Work
By 2030, artificial intelligence is projected to contribute up to $2.9 trillion to the African economy.
Quantum Leap Career Fair 2025, our first event of the year, is coming up next week Tuesday, April 22, and it’ll be hosted by the British Council Accra.
Before I tell you more about it, let’s go down memory lane for a second. Shall we?
Quantum Leap Career Fair is the program that launched this whole movement. The first edition happened in 2015. March 2015, to be precise. I set out to organize that first edition, which was one of the very few — and I mean, very very few — career fairs held in Accra at the time. In fact, some universities we went to invite didn’t know what a career fair was.
Anyway, we worked very hard. It was a successful first event. And I’ve got this photo album as proof 😉

I looked so skinny from the hard work ( in slide two) 🥺
A few months later.
Stacy Warren, then operations manager at the US Embassy inspired me to organize the career fair for the Young African Leaders Initiative participants, a US government-funded program for emerging leaders. I was a fellow and we were nearing the end of the program.
In her genius, she believed I could do it, even though I doubted my ability to pull it off within the short time I hard.
It took a lot of work. But I did. And even brought it back the following year. See photo albums here and here.

You will notice the I, I, I used. To be clear, it took contributions from several other people to pull it off. They deserve the credit as well. For instance, my dear friend, Bridget Boakye, now Africa Policy Lead at Tony Blair Institute, had just returned to Ghana at the time. The event was one of her introductions to the community.
She moderated the panel and wrote this beautiful recap.
And then there’s my former program/operations manager, Ashley Ancordi, who contributed to the success of the 2016 YALI career fair — and the 2017 edition with the British Council.
The community’s reception of the event in 2019 was heart-warming. We recorded many vital post-event success stories, including one participant going to a fully-sponsored trip to the Netherlands.
Andy Mensah and Tracy Kyei, two of the speakers from that 2019 edition have now joined SFAN’s board of advisory team. Here’s the 2019 event recap.
It was a beautiful and memorable event…and I’ve got to mention the great contribution from my self-taught graphic designer, Atsupi Davoh (Pipi):
All events were canceled in 2020, as you know. Due to the pandemic, the 2021 installment was a blended event. Yet, it didn’t take away the beauty of the programming.
We received many wonderful feedback, as you’ll see from the event website.
Here we are in 2025. After a brief rest, we are back for a consolidation on April 22.
We’ve put so much thought into organizing this year’s event. I promise. You will be impressed.
